ThunderBird Email on Andoid No Autofill of Contacts

I could NOT get any contact to autocomplete using Thunderbird on my Android phone. Just spent 3 hours searching online for help and nobody even suggested the correct answer although there were a lot of directions that would switch from android steps to the desktop version without a second thought and many that did not have the current menu steps and so were useless. Why do I always have to figure things out for myself?

Here is what worked for me and it might work for you.

I had to "allow the permission for ThunderBird to share my contacts" on my android phone. Once I did that, I now have contact suggestions popping up in Thunderbird on my android phone as I type and that is what I wanted.

Your phone may be different. Mine is a "Moto G Stylus 5G" and I highly recommed it as a phone that has many high end functions for a low cost phone.

I go to "Settings" and type in "permissions" and select "Permissions Manager"; "Contacts"; If Thunderbird is not in the "Allowed" list, check the "Unallowed" list and allow TB to use the contacts. Problem solved. This will most likely work with other email clients as well.
