828 Film Slide Scanning

828 Format Film: A Brief History
Kodak introduced the 828 film format in 1935. This was only one year after 135 or 35mm film was introduced. 828 film was introduced with the Kodak Bantam, a consumer-level camera. The 828 format camera uses the same basic film stock as 135 film (standard 35mm film), but the film does not have the sprocket holes that the 135 film has.
The 828 film only had a maximum of 8 photos per film roll. Since the 828 film did not have sprocket holes, it was registered by looking through a viewer or an index hole on the back of the camera. The number of the film frame was viewable on the paper backing of the film.
828 cameras were never widely popular, and the format had a limited run. The Pony 828 was Kodak's last 828 camera and it was produced until 1959. Kodak stopped producing the 828 film in 1985.
Our 828 Film Slide Scanning Service
Yes! Unlike most of our competitors, we will scan your 828 Slides without cropping the scan down so that you will lose parts of your precious photos.
Please note that we do not develop your 828 film for you and we do not sell the film. We will transfer your developed film negatives or positives to digital images and put them on a CD that will be playable on your PC computer and your compatible DVD player.
Why 828 Slides Need Special Attention
An 828 slide is 40mm × 28mm. This gives a 30% larger image compared to the 35mm slide's standard 24 × 36mm, but still uses the same film stock. In order to blow this scanned image up to a usable size, it is necessary to scan it at a higher resolution than a larger film requires.
Pricing and Preparation
If these 828 films are in regular 2" × 2" slide carriers, then they would be priced the same as regular 35mm slides.
Important: The 828 slides will have to be separated from any regular 35mm slides and place a note on them signifying that they are 828 slides so that we don't have to keep changing the settings of our equipment.
Visual Comparison: 828 vs 35mm Slides
The images below show the size difference between 828 format slides and standard 35mm slides.
Here you can see a 35mm Slide film area superimposed on the 828 slide.
